People Skills Workshop

Two day highly participative workshop with a follow-up day giving you new skills to apply immediately.

This workshop draws upon Centell's successful behavioural model of motivation, leadership, thinking and action. Prior to the event you will be asked to complete Questionnaires and to state the learning outputs that you want to achieve and why. After the event, there will be a follow-up day to review and monitor progress.

Assessing your people skills
It is important to obtain a clear picture of your current communication and behavioural approaches. This is achieved from involvement in a range of interactive projects plus feedback from one of our 360° questionnaires. The aim is to obtain a benchmark from which you can determine the skill you wish to develop.

Improve your self-awareness
If you do not have a realistic picture of yourself it is very difficult to be able to understand the effect you have on others. This workshop will enable you to build a clearer picture of the way you interact with others and the degree of effectiveness you achieve. From this baseline you can determine the skills you want to work on during the workshop to enhance your self-awareness.

Standing up for yourself
There will be occasions when you want to express ideas and opinions or challenge something that is being said or inferred and you find yourself unable to act in an appropriate manner. These situations are usually a test of your level of self-confidence and assertiveness in putting forward your views. However, the facts show that unless you know what you want to achieve and understand the consequence of your actions, the outcome is usually ineffective. You will explore ways to improve your assertiveness and ability to confront others in an enabling manner that can produce constructive outcomes.

Achieving results with others
Your ability to provide effective leadership as well as work effectively as a team member will be explored during the workshop. The aim of this workshop is to assist you to obtain the optimum results from working effectively with colleagues and any other persons involved in your projects. This involves identifying your leadership styles and how effective you are at relating to others in a manner that helps you to achieve your goals.

Dealing with conflict
There will be occasions when you will be confronted by difficult people and situations that will test your level of self-confidence and conflict resolving skill. Many people are unsure about how to deal with difficult situations in which tension and dysfunction is being created by conflict. You will explore five conflict resolution strategies and how to select the ones aligned with your behavioural style. This should enable you to confront inappropriate behaviour in an increasingly effective manner as well as to extend your conflict resolution skills.

Giving and receiving feedback
Feedback is the oxygen that enhances personal development and enables you to truly monitor the changes that you make to the way you demonstrate your people skills. You will explore ways to receive feedback without taking it personally and thus switching off the source. In addition you will receive feedback from onr of our questionnaires as well as learning ways to give effective feedback constructively.
